I am bringing your Tire so make sure you have room.
I,ll be there on Saturday. I’ll bring my sawz-all and my little Honda generator, trash bags, and miscellaneous hand tools. Does anyone know if the jeeps will be parked in sight, or will we need to leave them somewhere away from the work site? I don’t want to leave mine unattended. I will otherwise take my pickup truck.
We walked and came up with a loose plan. Basicly we need to split into 3 or 4 groups.
Here’s a map maps.google.com/maps/ms?msa=0&m … b51fb4e40c
I’m going to call Eric tomorrow to discuss the specifics of today’s walkthrough
we should be able to keep our Jeeps with us. my thought was we split into two groups. tackle the exit 7 site and the other group tackle the other site at exit 6. we’ll see how long it takes to do the exit 7 stuff and see if we want to hit the other boat site after that. lets concentrate our efforts and get stuff done as a good size group rather than spread too thin. after we get those two done we’ll go to the site with the multiple boats. the site with the multiple boats will get cleaned up by the state in a year or 2 if we dont get to it.
Ill have the 4runner, the mountaineer and my trailer
7800 generator, extension cords ,sawsall and blades wood / metal ,chainsaw , torches, chopsaw.
rakes , shovels, boltcuters. rachet straps.
Also bring bug repellant, the ticks are really bad this year
I would agree. We only have 3 hours. It will be inefficient to have 10-15+ people trying to cut up one boat and then moving to a different project. A group of 4 could do the job in the same amount of time.
Basicly we were talking about splitting osj into 4 groups, making sure that there is a winch in each group.
Each group will be dispatched to each of the 4 major clean up sites.
Now the lamairs (spelling?) Will be helping move the 3 boats on their property. He has a did street with a grapple that he will use to move the boats from the woods to a trailer. We are going to need some one with a trailer to volunteer. Another note is that besides the boats, the only other thing are removing is tires from the lamair property.
Most of our effort will be focused on moving large items like tires and such from the woods to the extraction points.
We decided on 5 dumpsters, 2 off which will be tires only. One of the tire dumpsters well be located at the station, just up the girl from lamairs
Another thing Peter said that we probly should do is organize a small group of people to trim the existing paths to ease this clean up. They did this last year and it made it easy to move around.
They need us the most at 3 of the sites. There are boats at two of them and we will need winches at all three of the sites. It might be better just to drag the boats onto a trailer than to cut them up. They aren’t very big and the biggest being at the park and ride by the Wal-Mart. At two of the sites we are going to need some people with cutters and jeeps pulling tires out of the woods to the street for pick up. The lemer’s property we are only picking up the boats and tires. NO STEEL. This was emphasized on with the land owner. We are going to need a trailer and tie down/ratchet straps for the boats.
Note: The Lemer land owner is going to move the boats out of the woods to the street and they can’t sit next to the road so they will have to be picked up. Because we have the winches we were assigned the job. We don’t have to worry about the tires there since there’s going to be another team working on those but the boats are a must.
sorry of the late entry, but had been waiting on scheduling…im working Saturday therefore unable to make it
good luck
Unfortunately we are going to have to back out… Sorry… ![]()
Are we on no matter what weather, I am looking at the radar and seeing thunderstorms heading up to us in the morning.
Looks like lots of rain tomorrow… is this on rain or shine?
Yes. By tradition it always rains during the cleanup. Better to have it rain tomorrow then May 17th!
Bump. We are WAY short of bodies. The Rhody Rover’s will have more people there than we will. What’s up with that???
I will be there… jeep doesnt have a front shaft still as it just came in and no time to install it…
Sorry for last minute bail, but I can’t make it tomorrow. Bosses wife is sick, so he’s not coming to work tomorrow which means I have to be there.
KC
Everything is loaded and we will be there rain or shine.
my rain gear loaded
I can only bring my small generator 1280
but it will run 1 to 2 saws.
we can adjust things to the manpower on hand
we can load the boats onto the trailers and cut them up at the dump site.
It will all get done one way or another.
more hands do make lighter work though.
I’ll be there and will bring some interesting tools…
As long as I am not covered in 10 feet of ice I will be there with an extra body
