What are the best universal joints available?

I hear Spicer are good? I dont want to get cheap ones, is it even worth it to buy the best ones available in that part?

If you can afford Spicer buy them!

Like most things, Spicer is no longer made here in the USA. Caps, crosses, bearings are outsourced to various places overseas. I guess time will tell on the quality of the China made Spicers. (The boxes are printed in the USA though! Woo-hoo!)
I used Moog/Precision the last time I changed out my axle u-joints, they were actually beefier than the Spicer and they’ve been good so far. Made here in the USA.

moog

I won’t use anything except Spicer.

I had a brand new shaft made with spicer joints and the crosses are stamped USA

98XJ…I looked them up there only 30 bucks? Was I looking at the wrong items? How much do they run? I need 3 of them. One is gone and just gonna replace the other two while I’m under there.

Spicer 1310’s for driveshafts can be had for less than $20.

My mechanic told me were gonna replace all three on the drive shaft area. So are the 1310s good for all three? Where can I get them around the attleboro area? I called napa and autozone and neither of them carry them

Crown Outlet in Canton sells the spicer’s at a good price. Cockroft in East providence is also a spicer dealer. I used precision to replace the 2-2 year old spicer u-joints i snapped in my front axles in august. By October (2 runs later), one snapped.

The Places I would get the u-joints from are ExtremeTerrain.com or Quadratrec.com I included the link for both sites to the 1310’s

i could swear this was about ball joints? haha yes, spicer for u-joints. although I’ve had the same CTM joints for nearly ten years, and never broke one.

Yes, CTM > Spicer.

As usual, you get what you pay for.

This was why I no longer use Spicer U-Joints.

The cap broke apart while I was pressing the u-joint into the axle ears after about 3 turns of a hand crank U-joint press. Spicer, in a one and only response to my email requesting a replacement, said the ears on the axle must have been defective causing the cap to fail. Funny how the Moog U-joint slid in like “budda” to such a defective shaft.

You gotta aim straight for the hole!!

LMAO! I could take that straight to the gutter, but this is supposed to be somewhat of a family oriented forum!

I beat you to the gutter. You just have to see it . . .

If you are planing on spending 500 plus on a set of ujoint then another 600 on axle shafts why not get rcv axles.

Exactly why I got mine

I wont put anything but Spicer joints in my Jeep unless i trip over a bunch of money then i would buy some CTM for the axle shafts.

And I always go to Crown in Canton, MA, Jeff always takes good care of us
