u-joint binding at full extension

Apparently my rear u joint binds on the pinion when the rear able is at full droop.
Seems weird to me, anyone got any input?
If that’s the way it is, I’m going to need limit straps immediately.

I would think limiting straps would be the key. Does the spring come unperched when at full flex? One idea I have for my limiting staps that will eventually go in the front of my Jeep is cutting up some old seat belt straps.

do you have a CV rear shaft? if so then ya, i think limit straps are in your near future.

U-joint on both ends stock slip yoke style for now.
I have to see it in person, but I’m positive the springs will unseat I’m thinking that the rear sway bar will keep it in the right spot for now.

if you still have the stock slip yoke then I would just upgrade to an SYE and a CV driveshaft, that should solve your problem.

I do have an SYE to put on, but it involves cutting the T-case output shaft, tapping and threading it.
Then I can measure and get a new driveshaft built.
It probably would solve the problem though as it would lessen the angles of the u-joints.

Don’t do that.

I don’t know why you are worrying about full extension since you don’t wheel anyways. . . :smiling_imp:

Were the shocks installed during this full extension test? I’m very surprised you could extend enough with the shocks installed to bind the u-joint. But yea, limit straps are the answer. That and maybe grinding out the yokes a little bit.

Why not?
How about some help with gear break in procedure.
From what I know, if they are good they work, if they’re not they self destruct

hack and tap slip yokes have there stigma, like the D35. BOOM

as far as the gears. street drive 100 miles. change and check the fluid. as long as you dont have chunks your should be ok for a while.

Should be picking up my truck today set 12:30!

ERIC!!, good news
Lose Cannon IPA now on tap at Oxford Tavern.
See you there.
