I found a hole in the floor of the cherokee and need to redo the floor. I am looking at just gutting the entire floor in one pass and redoing the whole thing. I was wondering thickness people have used in the past for the repairs. I am leaning on a 3/16" thickness depending on how well my new tools function once they arrive.
Why go as thick as 3/16? I’d lean towards just using similar thickness material, it’d be easier to shape and weld. And if prepped properly should last the remainder of the jeeps life. IMO
3/16" is overkill, will weigh you down, and really does not make sense. 16-18 gauge is more than enough
i’d suggest hitting the scrap yard. way better pricewise.
I’m with Mike. 16 gauge would be fine. 11 gauge if you want overkill. 3/16" if you are going up against IED’s.
The whole floor or a section? If the entire floor needs to be replace get a pre-made pan.
3/16 is over kill and would be really hard to form.

No Eric IED’s is not a concern just looking at the floor lasting. 98Grand it is a section under passenger foot well but if I do a section I might as well look at the entire floor and do it all at once. I will check the pans and see what I can find. I will rattle mid-city and a few others for prices and get some rubberizer to throw around the metal once it is welded.
