SOS...Need help taking doors off jeep - PLEASE!!!

Hi -

I’m new to the OSJ club. I’m reaching out to for help in taking off my jeep doors. My jeep is a little over 1 yr old and doors have never been taken off. I’ve watched the youtube videos but I think the doors are corroded from the elements from the winter. Can anyone help me?

Thank you!!!

Kimberly (North Smithfield)

I seen the happen to my 4 door JK, one of the rear doors got stuck & what I ended up doing is going to the dealer to remove the hinges from the body & they hammered it off the door

One of my rear doors has always been that way. It’ll come off after you remove the two hinge retention screws, but It requires a bit of brute force, moving the door in open/close motions as you’re lifting it, preferably from underneath where you have the most leverage, as opposed to lifting from the door handle. It requires some strength, so be prepared.

After you get them off, clean and apply some lubricant to the hinges just before you put them back on, and it’ll be a little easier next time.

The first time I ran into this, I thought I was missing something like a bolt or fastener because it wouldn’t budge. But, I kept at it until I started to see a little progress, then it eventually lifted out. Felt like I went to the gym or something. It took a while.

Thanks Seand! I was doing that this morning but no success. I don’t have that male super-power strength…lol. Does anyone know about how much the dealership will charge to remove doors (4)?

when I had them do it they did not charge me but I went to the dealer where I bought it from

Thanks Josh! Good to know. I don’t live near the dealership where I bought my jeep but I made an appointment where I take it to be serviced. We’ll see how it goes…

good luck with your doors

Hit the Hong with penetrating oil and put a jack under the door and rock it open and closed. It will go eventually. It will be your first test of patients with your Jeep. If you pass you can move on to the next stage.

Thanks Derickw

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!! A little WD-40, hammer and my wimpy muscles…BAM…the doors are off!!!

THANK YOU to ALL for sharing helpful info!!!
