its a tough call still but i just got a bonus at work so that makes cost a little less of an issue. i have a good deal on the ARB but its not really what i want, the bargain is the only thing bring me in. i always told myself i wanted to go with the OX but i cant see where i can mount the lever so that the cable runs straight. I think i’m just going to go Eaton in the front and if i like it i’ll do the 8.8 later. cookiemax said he liked his that was in his 8.8 i think, other than the fact that he had an issues with the wire going into the diff got marred up some how and stopped working.
i did it myself, not too bad because the 8.8 carrier shims are on outside of bearings. so you can press bearings on and not have to take them off again for setting backlash. the 8.8 has a hole in it already for some kind of abs sensor so i modified that for the wire to go through. i still have some new shims you can have that i didn’t use.
harbor freight. u can use mine. all u really need is a magnetic dial indicator. i just saw a used arb locker for a d30 on sale on jeepforum for like 400.
i’m getting a whole setup for my 30 minus the compressor but with 30 spline alloy shafts installed for 800. hopefully dropping the axle off this weekend.
