oil pis problem

Helping my buddy doing an oil pump. We for got to put the gasket between the oil pump and block. Now there is no pressure. I am wondering if that gasket missing id’s the problem. Or we need to prime it better. Any tips or have the special tool to spin the pump with a drill?

Yes that onion gasket is important, if you don’t have a primer tool you can prime it by unhooking the coil and cranking it over. You can buy a cheep oil primer from HF .

But it sounds like you are already running if you know there is no pressure.

I’ve done a couple of these. As mike stated, the gasket is important. You have to go back in and install.

With mine (Standard volume Melling pump), the pressure came up in a minute or so with a priming tool and a drill. The other was a high volume Melling, and the took about 5 minutes with a drill and priming tool.

Ok thanks I will be pulling it out tomorrow. And looking for the tool
