New jeeper from Norton

Hello all,

Just purchased my first jeep a month ago, an 03 wrangler sport, red soft top with 5 speed 4.0 inline 6. Got a great deal on it so I had to take it, even though reds not my favorite. It only had 80k miles on it. I am hooked! So much fun, I find myself itching to get out everyday even though I work everyday.

Went out to Freetown state forest yesterday on Copicut road and it was awesome! Lotta good starter trails and few crazy ones, a jeep had gotten stuck and the tow truck was trying to dig it out. I bet I winch would have gone a long way for him.

I hope to meet everyone soon! See you all at go topless day

JASON

welcome and good luck with the jeep.wait till the nice weather comes and the top and doors come off…

Welcome you cam to the right club mske sure. To check out are up c omeing events

Welcome Jason

what the other guy needed was a couple more Jeepers to go out along with him. We tend to stay out of that area because of how much traffic already goes through there and most of the trails off the main line are illegal. hopefully we’ll get you out some legit trails soon.

Welcome

Hey Jason. welcome to OSJ. Don’t forget to fill out an application to gain access to more areas of the forum. oceanstatejeepsters.com/osj-join.html

Just a heads up: I would steer clear of anything but a main road at the Freetown State Forest. First off none of the trails are OHV legal, and most importantly -just prior to the onset of the winter someone posted to one of the jeep forums that they ran into steel spikes set into the ground up there and lost 2 tires. Highly unlikely that the State, National Grid, or Algonquin Gas put them there, but a lot of those trails intersect/overlap private property so no telling who did, exactly where they are, or how many.

Welcome!

Welcome, Please be careful in Freetown State forest trails. I refuse to ride in there since the mid 90’s due to problems I had with running my vehicles in there. I keep hearing of problems with trails in there so I don’t take my XJ anywhere near it.

Welcome to the forum.

Welcome! You met my hubby Mike at HF the other day! Glad you stopped by to say hi.

Thanks everyone. I had no issues with Copicut road, was actually my first time out with the jeep and weather was perfect for it. I met a few guys there and they were helpful telling me where to stay away from and some good legal spots to go to.

I have to say its nice to see everyone looking out for each other and the honorability of everyone in this group about going off road the right way. It really is not how I envisioned it to be but very welcome. I am a General Manager of 6 cafés for my company Epicurean Feast and it wouldn’t be good if I was being malicious on private property. It is unfortunate that some of the people I have met only look for the wrong way to go about this sport. Makes me feel good to be a part of the team.

I’m sure my TJ has nothing on most of the members in this group but we all have to start somewhere. I hope to see everyone at go topless day and out at the meets.

Thanks again

J
