New Jeep guy here

My son and I just bought an 08 Wrangler to go off-roading in. It is stock with 32" tires on it.
We hope to mod it up with armor, suspension and body lift, winch, some night lights, etc… you get the idea. This can be contagious, right??

Was curious how active this group is and if you only do stuff in RI?
I live in MA but RI is not too far away from my house.
Curious how many members bring their kids along? I like to have fun and bring my son along. He is 14.
If we join, do we do a family package? Any info would be appreciated.

Do you have any public type events that we could come to see what the club is like?

Looking forward to meeting some of you guys and getting muddy!

I will be taking my 7 yo with me. We have always taken our kids with us. It is a great activity for the family.

My son is 14 and he has been coming along with me on various rides since he was 9.

Thanks. That’s cool. He must love it! Hope to meet up with you guys out on a run some day.

Thanks. Glad to see others like to do stuff as a family! Look forward to meeting you out on the trail too!

Welcome! The club wheels all over New England and kids are always welcome.

Welcome.

My daughter has been wheeling since she was 2… Now she is 7 and tells me all the things I do wrong on the trail…

In truth, most events are not “kid oriented” but kids are always there and have fun.

Toy run, OSJ Camp and wheel, Wheel and squeal (King of the Ham-mers) and the local trailrides are always a hit

Thanks for the welcome! That’s cool that your daughter is an awesome back seat driver. Sometimes it takes years to get good at that! LOL

My son is a teen now, big boy at 14 so not really a kid anymore… heck will be driving in a couple years. Time flies!

Thanks for the welcome. I am right about in between a few clubs so trying to decide what one to join.
Where are most of your meetings?
You said all over NE… a lot of MA riding? How frequent? Once a month, twice?
If there is someone better to hit up with all my questions, let me know.

Welcome!

The trail rides in Mass are typically at least once a month.

Thanks Roy. I found this on the OSJ site… looks like 2018’s events.

Will 2019’s calendar be similar?
A mixup of MA, RI, CT & VT trail rides?

Correct. The 2019 calendar is pretty much identical to 2018, except for the dates.

Most trail rides are, unfortunately, posted in the member’s only section of the forum. However, we do have events that are public, like Go Topless Day.

It wasn’t mentioned earlier, I think I can speak for everyone that’s posted, but I’ve experienced nothing but friendly people in the club. And the dues payment is some of the best money I’ve spent to date.

On edit, keep your eye on the thread at the very top of the page, under “announcements” . It’s called “How do I become a member”. Once additional openings become available, I’m pretty sure it will be posted there"

Thanks for the info Roy. Looks like the post has an update… no date as to when it was updated but says this:
“Currently, the club has reached its membership cap of 175 and additional openings will become available mid-February 2019”

Well, its mid Feb and I just bought my Jeep last week… got a few items I gotta get to meet trail ride rig requirements…
From the intro page, looks like a bunch have submitted the application and are waiting.
Anything coming up soon my son and I can attend to check the club out?
Is the application for me and him? If no, do I have to submit one for him? He will only be a passenger, can’t drive yet.
In most post, people have RI locations… do you have any/many MA members?

Welcome.

Trail rides are at minimum of 1 per month and during the nicer times of year we typically have 2 rides a month. We also do trail maintenance days that include cleaning trails and testing.

Trails are in R.I., central and western mass, and northern CT.

Just put your application in and that basically gets you all of the membership benefits minus the ability to vote on club business.
