So im hoping i can join the club on some runs starting in the fall. I only work on my Jeep on the weekends and i’ve been busting my ass on my jeep trying to get it done. I am currently waiting on the engine to get out of the shop so i can put it in the Jeep. So in the mean time im stripping the paint off it this weekend and prepping it for paint.
One I get the engine in the car here is a list of things I will need to get it on the trail.
If i get the engine from my uncle within the next few weeks ill buy tickets.
In the mean time since I really don’t to much I can do without the engine in the car I started on the body work. This is kind of a tough spot for me because I want my jeep to look good but I know im going to drive it on the trail. The old paint was chipped everywhere and I just felt like my Jeep could use some love. So i started to strip the old paint off with aircraft paint remover.
This stuff is nasty! Apparently it is being removed from Lowes and HomeDepot because it contains methyl chloride which is some really bad stuff. But it works really good when the humidity is low. Just make sure you have good ventilation and don’t let this stuff get hot. Because I guess that’s when it releases the toxic gasses that can mess you up. And if you use it in the state of california you will get lung and brain cancer lol.
Anyway here are some pictures.
Hopefully i get to drive it for a few weeks before i mess up its new paint job. Its going to be metallic silver.
