Not mine, that sucks . My father went up there and picked up ours today. I think they gave us a pretty good deal for it taking so long. They installed the new driveshaft and replaced the T-case fluid all for $300. Ready to test it Sunday
glad your all set Gomez
That does sound like a good deal. I paid like $350 for my Tom Woods shaft and still had to spend another $50 or so on the pinion yoke.
well i went and picked up my old driveshaft and much to my dismay it wasnāt completely rebuilt. it was lengthened but that was it. i was told the joints were looked over and everything seemed fine. but i saw that the zerk fitting on one of the joints was still broken off and not replaced. he installed a new one i installed it there and as i drove away the damn knocking noise was there again⦠the wrong shaft i got sounded a lot better. iām gonna have go there and probably drop it off for them to rebuild. just sucks that iām gonna have to go without it.
Ask for the old one back
Derick, why donāt you have them build you another and keep one for a spare? rear double carden? canāt you have an xj front shaft cut?
HA! he was in there today asking about it. the guy handed him my old one and the guy was like⦠thats not mine.
i have an XJ front in there now. i bought JJās old driveshaft which might be part of the problem in the first place⦠iāll have to talk to the shop tomorrow and see what he want to charge me to build me a all new one. just sucks, spending WAAAAYYYY to much money right now.
well after ur and gomez problems w ri driveshaft i think im callin tom woods
wise ideaā¦
ya, its hard to support local business when you see something like this. but iām a sucker for giving people a chance. how does your drive shaft look and work Gomez
The 4wd works and sounds fine on the paved road, Sunday will be the real test. As far as looksā¦
It looks like it was spray painted with 99 cent flat black spray paint from wal mart . Compared to the Carolina driveshafts (carolinadriveline.com/upload ⦠tegory=121) it looks awful. Iāll upload pictures tomorrow.
Its a good thing looks do not affect performance.
Hey guys sorry to hear about your driveshaft issues. Theres a place in east providence called cockcroft driveline. I dal with them all the time for different things and the owner is cool. You should try them and see what they say. Just tell the Chuck from advance auto parts recommended you there.
but it should get you on and off the trail. so in that sense it will be fine. i think the one i have will do for now if i get it rebuilt. iāll have RI Driveshaft do the rebuild for me and depending on how that experience goes i might be saving up to buy a all new shaft form someone else. just hurts, its been 2 steps forward and one back but i feel like i just took 2 steps back
Same thing from Tom Woods. Coat of cheap paint with no primer. I was going to mention that. Without primer might as well not paint it at all. . .
Derick, what needs to be rebuilt? Center bearing? Is there any play in the slip yoke? Or just replace u-joints?
i think the center bearing. the joints seem fine. i dont know⦠its just clicky clacking and the other shaft sounded a lot better. iāve never rebuilt a driveshaft before so iām not really sure what to do. i can change the joints out but have no clue as far as the center bearing goes. i guess i should do some research. i just bought new joints to redo my front shaft as well. maybe Saturday you can take a listen and see if you can come up with something.
Our brand new almost 5 weeks of waiting RI Driveshaft, is now making a loud clicking noiseā¦
great.
have them look at it, Iām sure they will make good
yea, they better
