Bent rear drive shaft at Boulderville today. made it most of the way home but the vibration just got to be too much. Removed rear shaft and put in 4 HI. now it seems like the trans. will not shift out of 1st gear.
Any thoughts.
I’m thinking this could be normal operation.
By putting transfer case in 4 wheel the computer knows not to shift to higher gears?
tcase operation is independent of transmission. 4hi should be normal operation for that trans.
ive done the same thing before when i blew a rear shaft and 4hi with just front shaft does “feel weird” but idk how much different yours feels.
Trans. Does not shift out of 1st. Tach just keeps climbing. Had to drive 25 to keep below 3000 RPM
That doesn’t sound very good. You may have done more than just bent the drive shaft.
What year is your Jeep? If the computer senses a problem in the drivetrain it will put the transmission in “limp mode” to protect it. When I regeared my 2017 JK the transmission wouldn’t shift out of second until I switched the gear ratio with a superchip programer.
