CB set up

Hoping this is the right spot!

Going to start looking for a cb for the Jeep. I know I want one that’s mounted, just looking for tips on where to look, and eventually how to mount it the right way. Also about an antenna and all that fun stuff.

Thanks!

I would recommend this:

Radio Cobra 75 WX ST
Antenna Firestik FS 4’
Mounting Kit Teraflex 1987-2006 Jeep Tail Light Mounting Kit (Driver Side)

Firestik CGA Installation Grommets
Firestik SS-3H Heavy Duty Stainless Steel Antenna Spring
Firestik R-1a External Locking Quick Disconnect Cb Radio Antenna Mount

Here is the picture of the kit from rightchannelradios.com/

. . . but with a JK mounting kit instead of the TJ mounting kit.

Awesome!! Seriously! Thanks  I’ll check it out thoroughly when I’m out of work. Thanks so much!

Also search the CB build threads on jeepforum.com and wranglerforum.com Jeep owners have come up with a bunch of different ideas for mounting locations over the years.

I second Eric’s recommendations. I have the meter to set the SWR once its all installed

Melissa

Eric’s recommendation is the best idea for Wranglers, You will need help tuning it once you get it installed. You do get the SWR meter with this package and all you need for tuning those antennae. I can help you build a different package if you desire.

Glenn can I get you to adjust my stik on Sunday?

:open_mouth:

Didn’t think that one through did you?

if you are talking antenna…then sure otherwise you are on your own… I keep the SWR meter in the jeep

Yes the antenna , I forgot to ask at the toy run.

Didn’t know it had to be set! Thanks! I just had to replace my brakes, get an oil change, yadda yadda for New England. I’m hooooping to get the set up before the February run, but realistically, probably not until the March one.

The package seems pretty straight forward. My only concern was the coaxial cable, but the reviews say that the one that comes with the setup is perfect. Would the spare tire mount be the best for a 2011?

Yes, the tire mount is good but also use a spring. No matter how much flex an antenna has you can snap it easily. The coax supplied is just right for a two door wrangler. If you have problems installing I can look at it during an up coming event.
