What: Big River Earth Day Cleanup
When: Saturday April 22nd, 2017 from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm
Where: Park-n-Ride off Exit 6a of I-95 in West Greenwich, RI
For the 9th year in a row Ocean State Jeepsters will be partnering with the West Greenwich Conservation Commission and the RI chapter of the New England Mountain Bike Association to host an Earth Day cleanup on Saturday April 22nd, 2017 at the Big River management area in West Greenwich, RI. After nine years we’ve really made a huge impact, this year they are only anticipating minimal tires and very minimal large debris. This year they are only requesting two Jeeps with winches to recover tires from the bottom of a ledge. Most of the help needed will be along roads and trails. Trucks or Trailers may come in more handy then a Jeep. I walk Ninja and Shadow back there regularly and would highly recommend bringing a bug repellent made for ticks. Bags and gloves will be provided.
Immediately following the cleanup lunch will be provided at the nearby Mishnock Barn. A cash bar will also be available.
The following video from last year’s clean-up was produced by our friend Peter from the RI chapter of the New England Mountain Bike Association and provides a good idea of what this event is about:
By tradition, OSJ has made a cash donation to help offset the cost of the cleanup (t-shirts, supplies, lunch). Our goal this year is to donate a minimum of $300. Reaching our goal of $300 should be a piece of cake. You can make your donation in increments of $5 at the following link:
Bump
We have always had a good turn out for this and it makes us look like saints to the state.
Our involvement was n this event was a huge key to gaining access to woody hill
i have a dump trailer i can bring…?but am not willing to drive my truck thru the woods
i know weve had trailers in the past
or ill just dust off the jeep and role it on over
anyway im in
I think one $10 donation is sufficient. We get a check to the conservation commission ahead of the event to help offset cost for t-shirts, supplies, and lunch.
