Beater hood for a JK, any ideas?

Probably totally random, but in the fall, a friend will be doing some work on my hood. Any idea where I could find a “beater” hood that would fit my 2011 JK/Wrangler Sport? I have some time, figured I’d give myself a head start. Thanks in advance!

edited because I’m a dumbass, haha

the tj was 97-06
i believe 2011 is still the jk

you want a jk hood

Totally meant JK (-___-) was having a TJ convo when I posted this. I wanted to post while I remembered. Haha. I need to learn to sleep more.

I’ve got an absolutely minty white rubicon hood. Haven’t listed it for sale yet but if you’re interested let me know

I was going to say “2011” and “beater hood” don’t really belong in the same sentence . . . . but if they do then CJ is the guy.

The way I’m going my should be beat shortly

ooooo, how much were you thinking?

hahaha, I need it because MA law says I can not drive around minus a hood. my friend is going to have my hood for a bit, and he lives down in Florida, so it may be awhile until I get it back after giving it to him (hopefully in October when I meet him and his car club for a Tail of the Dragon ride.)

what is he doing to your hood? seems like a lot of hassle

Switching out hoods? Nah, doesn’t seem too bad to me. I’ve had to do more to old vehicles to keep 'em running! Haha. My friend does artwork, has his own company called Sharpie Works. Going to personalize my hood for me. I’m pretty pumped.

Quite honestly I been looking around for a scrap yard find and I can’t come across anything 2011 that isn’t destroyed. I would suggest ordering a fiberglass or carbon fiber hood for your friend to design on. It would cut a few pounds off your overall weight.

Never thought about fiberglass. Is the weight difference that much?

I know off hand between the TJ stock hood and the fiberglass one from RK Sports there is roughly a 9 lbs difference. Stock is 35 and Fiberglass is 27.3. The only issue is the cost can be any where from 500 - 2k depending on the style. A replacement JK / JKU steel Hood from Quadratrac is roughly 350 before shipping. I can’t find anything in the junk yard network I have access too that will provide a far replacement for temp usage.

Steel Hood

Edit: Scratch that I found a few on LKQ New England which is a used parts supplier out of Webster, MA. As with their search software I cannot provide a direct link but the search is easy to go through.
