whine in engine

I have just developed a whine on my 2010 JK. it’s a constant whine idling or while driving. I checked all fluids and they are full.
Any thoughts?

Accessory drive belt? Vacuum leak? Does it change at all with engine speed? With the hood open can you narrow down the location?

it does change with engine speed and sounds to be in front of engine. I did have a wiring harness put in for my plow today

must be the tires.ill give you a deal for the 35…lol check the tension pully check it with the ac on

Check your idler pulley and/or tensioner pulley. They can get noisy when the bearings start to go.

edit; HA! Beat me to it!

will do both

Tad, I won’t take less than $500 for the set of 35’s

Well now that it makes your jeep make funny noise I’ll give the old ones and cash for the 35 lol

Do I have to buy the whole tension pulley? I don’t know much about this

Ill give you $501.00 for the tires and wheels…

As for the pulley, I did a quick google search and this seems like a common problem when you play to much in the mud… anyway cheap to fix and easy to do…(from what I read anyway)

Napa P/N: NBH 38018 ( $16.49 with AC) or NBH 36157 $29.99 without AC
Autozone P/N: 231133 $29.99

Remove the belt and unbolt the idler pulley…

stop over one night and I will give you a hand.

clean it out at a car wash and hit it with some wd40 and see if that helps. and stay out of the mud, its always bad news

Stick with NAPA or order a brand name from RockAuto.com. The “made in China” crap they sell at Autozone is junk. I pissed thru a pair of idler pulleys from Autozone in no time and had to replace them within 6 months.

Thank you all for responding, it was a tremendous help and you all solved my problem.

What flavored Whine ?

lol

:frowning: But it’s so much fun!
