The Second Coming: Eric's New ZJ Build

looks awesome Eric.

Slow and painful progress on the slider build:

Looks like your getting there just in time

He’s gotta get it done for Rausch Creek!

And I thought I had a lot to do before we go. :open_mouth:

You should see the other side . . .

:unamused: Pictures…

Passenger side is mounted:

Very painful due to rust in the a-pillars. Basically had to reconstruct the a-pillars from the lower hinge down. Its bullshit. All because between 96 and 98 some moron decided to add hoses that drained the cowl into the front of rockers. Its the only place on this rig with any rot.

The rest of the job is cosmetic. Fold down the sheet metal, stitch it to the new rocker, seam seal, prime, and Herc it. Still a lot of work but should be a piece of cake in comparison. Going to be cutting is close for the camp-n-wheel.

looking good, now hurry up and get it done! :sunglasses:

Sheet metal work and seam sealing is done. Primer, Hurculiner, bolt the doors on, and I’m good to go:

There is light at the end of the tunnel. Sliders are done, fenders are on, front doors are on:

All that’s left to do is:

  1. Rear doors
  2. Front shocks
  3. Front track bar
  4. Adjust toe
  5. Install CB
  6. Install headlights and directionals
  7. Install front cowl and wipers
  8. Install hi-lift mount
  9. Install skidplate
  10. Fix brakes
  11. Replace transmission lines
  12. Install cladding
  13. Wash, wax, Armor All,

and I’m done. And this all has to happen Thursday night after work. No problem.

Almost there. Can’t understand why there is no pressure in the brake system. There are no leaks and they were working fine when I parked it. Must be master cylinder.

try to bench bleed the master, you must just have a ton of air in there

Engine work:

Bout time!!!

Motor is going back together:

Said fawk it and ordered a Detroit for the front.

Anybody interested in the e-locker? I also have a D30 TruTrac. The e-locker goes for almost $800 but I was never able to make it work. Maybe somebody else can. Will sell both for $500 OBO.

Guaranteed traction has arrived!

Can’t beat that!

Got the Detroit in, welded on a new passenger side upper control arm bracket, cleaned and painted, popped out the old ball joints, and the new ball joints just drop right into the holes. Holes are stretched. WTF. Already started tearing down a replacement housing. First thing I did was check if the ball joints have an interference fit. (They do).
