plowing over a tree....

last night there were some downed trees on the trail… after getting over the top of one downed tree we needed to plow over a tree which was still standing… it took a few tries to get over the downed tree popped outta four a couple times ( we know we need a shift link rebuild kit) and just had a couple issues…finally got over the downed tree plowed over the new tree with my buddies new off road style bumper with stinger and winch… once we plowed over the standing tree rig lost all power… it regained power about 15 minutes and in said 15 minutes we disconnected battery and other connections and tightened them… we kept trying but didn’t seem to be getting fuel…then unplugged the computer for a few waited a few more min n she kicked right on…SO NOW here is the question my friend and I have been arguing why the jeep shut down… I think he stressed the engine and she over heated shut herself down and came back on when she was cool enough… he thinks when he hit over the standing tree his airbag would have deployed from the impact and he thinks there is a sensor which shut the jeep down from the impact and he thinks removing the computer and resetting fixed the issue… what do you people think… the rig was a 98 xj
ps yes I know I should have remembered the chainsaw lol

my first thought is you and your friend should read through this web site treadlightly.org/

sounds like you guys were definitely not treading likely, and I truly hope your were not wheeling illegally :imp:

my advise is that a jeep is not a battering ram, or a tank. don’t go around hitting crap with it :unamused:

What they said.

And I suspect your friend is correct.

one we were legally wheeling… two we forgot the chainsaw… and three I will now go read the tread lightly article
