NP231 shift linkage help

does anyone know if my old shift linkage ax5/np231 is compatible with ax15/np231

right now trying to dry fit it doesnt fit. it may just seem a clearance issue and I would have to trim some sheet metal. but would rather not have to do any cutting if not needed. especially if this wont work.

I cant find many answers on the web, maybe im not using the right punch words

The ax15 is different, I believe it’s mounting is different.

Linkage? I don’t need no freaking linkage!!

Check the shift lever coming out of the tcase some have diferent sizes

Got so I was under my Jeep a 1/2 dozen times on a wheeling trip screwing with the z-bar linkage getting the t-case to stay in 4LO. It’s such a crappy design on the TJ. Bought a Novak shifter setup about 2 years ago and haven’t had an ounce of problems since. Money well spent IMO. They don’t use a cable design for the YJ though, its a direct link setup but it’s a much better design than factory, and it can be customized.

I agree I run the novack shifter.

ORDERED! looks like a no-brainer. the oe linkage sucks. thanks

hopefully its not on horse and buggy on its way over here

Well, in the meantime you can always use Eric’s method of a large screwdriver and multiple expletives!

And most importantly the plastic bag!
