I know the gears are not right for 33s, but could it be regeared? Width?

Short answer is no.

For the same money (or less) you can get an 8.8 out of an Explorer with larger 31 spline axle shafts. That axle might not be wide enough either.

it is an 8.8 and 150 isnt bad. short answer is yes. just make sure it came out of a 91+ Explorer. and most of the time you’ll want an open carrier vs. a posi lock because you can’t put an Aussie style locker in a posi lock carrier.

Its not an Explorer axle!! Mustang/Ranger. Says so in the add. The Ranger/Mustang axles have smaller 28 spline shafts and are 3" narrower than the Explorer 8.8 (which itself is 1 5/8 narrower than Jeep axle).

No. Putting a Ford axle under a Commando is blasphemy. Next question.
